Read More	Mother of Harry Ledyard Dies at Elwood, Nebraska Early Creighton Resident Succumbs at Hospital in Elwood, Nebraska on Wednesday Last Week Mrs. Etta May Ledyard, mother of Harry Ledyard and early Creighton resident, died at the hospital in Elwood, Nebr. on Wednesday of last week. Death was due to infirmities of old age. Mrs. Ledyard had been a resident of Creighton for a number of years. Her son, Harry Ledyard, was notified on Wednesday of her serious condition and he and his wife, accompanied by his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Ledyard of Yankton, S.D., left that same afternoon to be at her bedside, but did not arrive in time to see her alive. ******** Etta May Dana, daughter of Osman and Mary Ann Sutherland Dana, was born at Horton, Iowa, December 29, 1861 and passed away in Elwood, Nebr., October 8, 1941 at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 9 days. She was reared at Nashua, Iowa, where she attended the Little Brown Church, made famous by the song, "The Little Brown Church in the Vale". On June 30, 1880 she was united in marriage to Phineaus W. Ledyard. To this union three sons were born, all of whom survive. They are F.H. Ledyard of Elwood; G.W. of Yankton, S.D. and H.W. of Creighton. She also leaves one grandson, Lewis Ledyard; nephews, nieces and many friends. Her last surviving sister passed away about three weeks ago. In 1919 Mrs. Ledyard went to live with her son. F.H. and wife in Elwood. She made her home there since that time with the exception of the last five years. She was united with the Methodist church in 1924 and remained a loyal member the rest of her life. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.T. Slagg, former pastor, assisted by Rev. O.W. Michel, present pastor in the F.H. Ledyard home Friday afternoon. Interment was made in the Elwood cemetery. Mr. Ledyard preceded her in death. ...The Creighton News 16 Oct 1941.
