They were the parents of 7 children: Myrtle, Walter, Minnie, Frank, John Ervin, Clarence, and Roy. Cherokee Daily Times - Tuesday , December 7th, 1943 - Mr and Mrs T.E. Stevenson celebrated their 60th anniversary quietly in their home in Quimby Monday Nov 29. Sunday Mr and Mrs Stevenson were honored by their immediate family when their -children gathered to spend the day with them. A turkey dinner was a feature of the day, served from tables decorated with yellow chrysanthemums, a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Harve Allen and Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Allen of Cherokee. The afternoon was. spent visiting and reminiscing and with music and singing. Those present were: Mrs. Myrte Hutton of Long Beach, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stevenson of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. George Laposky, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stevenson, JoAnn of many lovely gifts, flowers and congratulatory cards from relatives and friends. Miss Etta Violet Allen and Mr. Thomas E. Stevenson were married Thanksgiving day, November 29, 1883, at the farm home of the brides' parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Allen, in Silver township. Guests included the immediate relatives and a small group of friends. Of this number the only two remaining members of the wedding party of sixty years ago, are the bridesmaid, Miss Rose Allen, now Mrs. Len Bowles of Charles City, and the best man, Haughten Stevenson, of Cherokee. Mr. Stevenson, 81, and Mrs. Stevenson, 78, lived on a farm until 1915, when they moved to Quimby, where they have since resided. Both are unsually active for their ages, caring for a large garden during the summer with Mrs. Stevenson doing the canning besides her own housework. Mr. Stevenson joined the Odd Fellows lodge in 1891 and is the proud possessor of a fifty year jewel presented to him by Sparta lodge of Quimby. Both are members of Quimby Rebekah lodge and have been regular attendants unless sickness prevented. Mrs. Stevenson is a member of the Ladies' Aid and of Martha Circle and has taken an active part in both. The couple are the parents of seven children, two daughters, Mrs. Myrtie Hutton of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Minnie Laposky of Quimby, and five sons: Walter of Cherokee, Frank and Clarence of Quimby, Roy of Long Beach and Ervin, who passed away on January 13, 1937.
