Description	:	Bud Oyen, 75 Eugene "Bud" Oyen died Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at the Dell Rapids Community Cospital. Eugene Oyen was born January 24, 1923, to parents Sivert and Reka Oyen. He grew up in the crooks area and attended the Tyler country school near there. After his education he farmed with his father and brother. After their marriage they continued to live and farm on the family... Read More	Bud Oyen, 75 Eugene "Bud" Oyen died Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at the Dell Rapids Community Cospital. Eugene Oyen was born January 24, 1923, to parents Sivert and Reka Oyen. He grew up in the crooks area and attended the Tyler country school near there. After his education he farmed with his father and brother. He entered United States Navy and served during World War II. After his discharge he returned to the clerks area and continued to farm. Bud married Donna Reedy April 10, 1948, in Sioux Falls. After their marriage they continued to live and farm on the family farm. Donna died December 21, 1978. Bud lived on the farm until moving to Odd Fellows Nursing Home in 1995. He was baptized and confirmed at the West Nidaros Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. He played and coached baseball in the Crooks and Lyons area and was a St. Louis Cardinals and Renner Monarch fan. He also enjoyed taking his family to the Black Hills and loved to travel in the mountain regions of the Western United States. He also was a member of the Crooks VFW. Grateful for having shared his life are his three sons and their wives: Rick and Cindy, Colton; Mike and Cindy, Worthing; Scott and Dee, Colton; two daughters and their husband: Lori and Dick Berg, Baltic; Linda and Roger Person, Hartford; 13 grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, Howard, New London, Minnesota; and a sister, Hazel Ostgaard, Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen. Services were held Friday, August 28, 1998 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, Crooks, with Rev. August R. Borchardt officiating. Organist was Deb Bunde and soloists were Amy Oyen and Kari Person. Casket bearers were Eric Oyen, Brad Oyen, Jason Oyen, Jordan Person, John Person Andrew Berg, Adam Berg, Nicholas Berg, Tyrel Oyen and Trent Oyen. Interment was at West Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, Crooks, with Minnehaha Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Dell Rapids Tribune September 2, 1998 Dell Rapids, Minnehaha County, South Dakota
