Description	:	Eugene Ernst Reetz, 75, of Stromsburg, passed away April 25, 2011 at his home west of Stromsburg. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28 at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery southeast of Benedict with Military Rites by the Stromsburg Legion Post #132. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements. Eugene was born Nov. 27, 1935 to Herbert Ernst and Clara Laura Augusta (Heiden) Reetz in York. He attended school in Benedict, graduating in 1953. Eugene served in the Army National Guard for six years from 1957 to 1963. On March 16, 1958 he was united in marriage to Lola M. Tieken in Waco. To this union, three children were born. Except for being stationed in Colorado Springs for 10 months, Eugene lived his entire married life west of Stromsburg when he was engaged in farming. He retired in 2006 but remained living on the family farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball and dart ball, playing six-point pitch and had never been beat playing checkers. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer and Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. Survivors include his wife, Lola, of Stromsburg; children, Debbie (Rick) Runyan of Ainsworth, Michael (Roxie) Reetz of York and Lorri (Roger) Marsden of Stromsburg; grandchildren, Megan (Jesse) Kreycik of Abilene, Texas, Nicholas Runyan of Norfolk, Jacob Runyan of North Platte, Emmy Runyan of Stromsburg, Elissa Reetz of Hastings and Tessa Reetz of Peru, Kjell and Channer Marsden of Stromsburg; great-grandson, Miles Kreycik of Abilene, Texas; brother, Leabert (Mildred) Reetz of Benedict; sisters, Lois Smith of York and Norma Jean Havlat of Pleasant Dale; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lynn Tieken of Seward, Bob (Janet) Tieken of Omaha, Mary Ann Tieken of Bloomington, Calif., Carol Tieken of Yakima, Wash., JoAnn Tieken of Omaha, Ruby (Joe) Light of Payette, Idaho and Theo (Roger) Rucker of Utica; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Clara Reetz; parents-in-law, Herman and Alice Tieken; brothers-in-law, Ted Snider, Al Havlat, Don Tieken, Randy Tieken, Forrest Smith, Gene Tieken and Lavern Tieken; and sisters-in-law, Diana Tieken and Alvera Tieken.
