Description	:	LINCOLN — Eugene E. Eich, 88, formerly of Randolph, died Sept. 23, 2008, at the Monarch Hospice, Lincoln. Visitation was two hours prior to the service at St. Frances Catholic Church, Randolph. Funeral services were Sept. 29 at St. Frances Catholic Church, Randolph. Burial was in the parish cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 113 and VFW Post 5545, Randolph. Home for Funerals will be charge of the arrangements. Eugene Evan Eich was born on a farm northwest of Randolph March 3, 1920, to John and Anna (Ostendorf) Eich. Eugene attended grade school at McLean. He graduated from Osmond High School in 1937. He worked on a farm near Osmond until 1941 when he enlisted in the Air Corp. He was discharged from the Air Corp in 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. In June of 1947, he married Louise Spader at St. Frances Catholic Church, Randolph. They farmed in the Pierce vicinity for 15 years and then moved to Randolph in 1962. Eugene worked full time for the city of Randolph and during this period he owned, and operated a garbage pickup service. After retiring from the city and his business, he worked part time for the city of Randolph for five years, maintaining the city cemetery. Eugene and Louise later moved to Norfolk where he worked several part time jobs. When Louise passed away in 2002, he moved back to Randolph residing at the Five Star Apartments and then moving into the Randolph Colonial Manor in February 2008. In May of 2008, he moved into the Waverly Care Center, Waverly. He died at The Monarch Hospice, Lincoln. He was a member of St. Frances Catholic Church in Randolph and Catholic Order of Foresters. He was also a member of The American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (Spader) Eich, March 18, 2002; and his parents, John and Anna (Ostendorf) Eich. He is survived by his daughter, LuJean, and her husband, Merlin Olson, Lincoln; three sisters, Geneva Custer, Crystal Lake, Ill.; Evelyn Bartek, Kansas City, Mo.; Marge Kersey, Abilene, Texas; and numerous nephews and nieces. – Cedar County News, Oct. 2, 2008
