Description	:	Dubuque Telegraph Herald - September 15, 1930 EUGENE FINCH Alpha, Ia., Sept. 15 - Special: Funeral services for Eugene Finch, who died Wednesday, were held at the Alpha Church, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. O. J. Felter, Methodist pastor. Casket bearers were: H. P. Davis, F. E. West, Harold Ostrander, George Conklin, Edward Conklin and William Richardson. Interment was in the Alpha cemetery. Eugene Finch, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Finch, was born in Milwaukee, Wis., Jan. 12, 1848. He came to Eden township, Iowa, with his parents as a small child, and has resided here since. He was married to Jane Pitts in 1870, and to this union six sons and a daughter were born. One son and the daughter died in infancy. The sons living are: Theron of Woodburn, Ore.; Roy of Greelee, Ia.; Miner of Winter Haven, Fla.; and Edward and Max of Alpha. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Nims of West Union and Mrs. Calista Smeal of Grand Forks, N.D.; eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His wife died 12 years ago. Mr. Finch had quite a record as an Odd Fellow, having belonged to the order 55 years. He was also a member of Starlight Rebekah Lodge of Alpha. A large number of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs were present at the funeral, the Odd Fellows conducting the service at the grave. Married Jane Pitts on June 12, 1870 in Fayette County, IA.
