"Doc" Ruppert, 93 years, of Scribner, Nebraska died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. Eugene was born January 8, 1921 at Hooper, Nebraska to Joseph and Etta (Lindgren) Ruppert. Eugene grew up in the rural Hooper and Scribner areas. He married Juanita W. Stanley at Fremont, Nebraska on January 13, 1944. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2008. He served in the US Army Infantry during WWII from June 2, 1945 to November 5, 1945. He farmed until 1971. He was a maintenance foreman for seventeen years for Dodge County. He also operated Ruppert Transfer and hauled livestock for twenty years. He then was employed at the Alfalfa Mill in Scribner for seven years. Eugene was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Scribner and Lutheran Laymen’s League. He is survived by sons, Elmer Ruppert and special friend Georgia Matter of Fremont, Jerry Ruppert of West Point, and Edward and wife, Lora Ruppert of Scribner; daughters, Connie Ruppert and special friend, John Posa of Scribner and Sally Addink and special friend, Glen Popken of Hooper, Nebraska; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; and brothers, Riley Ruppert, Floyd Ruppert, and Reynold Ruppert. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 PM to 8 PM with family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Scribner and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Scribner Cemetery at Scribner with military honors. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elkhorn Valley Villa, and the Scribner Fire Department and Rescue Squad all of Scribner. (mosermemorialchapels.com/obituary)
