He attended school at a one room schoolhouse near Junius, SD and grew up on the family farm north of Madison, SD. Eugene was drafted into service in the United States Army on November 14, 1951. He served honorably in the Korean War and was discharged on August 14, 1953. Following his military service, Eugene moved back to Madison, SD where he married Kathleen Mullaney on May 19, 1954. The couple made their home in Madison where he worked for Madison Grocery and Red Owl. In 1971 Eugene opened Genes Standard Service Station which he owned and operated for two years. The family then moved to Sioux Falls where he worked for Jordan Mill Works until he retired in 1994. Eugene was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge and the Madison VFW. Over the years he enjoyed traveling all over the world with his wife, listening to western music and hunting, fishing, and gardening. Eugene also cherished the camping trips he took to the Black Hills with friends and family. He was a life member of the Prairie Village Historical Society and enjoyed going to power shows to see the different tractors. Above all, Eugene loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren; they were the light of his life. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kathleen Ramm, Sioux Falls; sons, Joe (Sharon) Ramm, Jasper, MN, Bruce (Deb) Ramm, Rodney Ramm and special friend, Dr. Shanda Myers, Jerry Ramm, Dave Ramm and special friend, Carol Bothe, Ed (Cindy) Ramm, and Francis (Beth) Ramm, all of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Edna Ramm; brother, Henry; grandson, John; and daughter-in-law, Kim.
