Description	:	Eugene Henry Sharp James, who died at his home in Grafton, January 3, 1934, was born in Seaford, Del., August 21, 1855. He was the son of the late Jorn Sharp and Harriet Wallace James, whose families have been residents of that vicinity for many generations. Read More	Eugene Henry Sharp James, who died at his home in Grafton, January 3, 1934, was born in Seaford, Del., August 21, 1855. He was the son of the late Jorn Sharp and Harriet Wallace James, whose families have been residents of that vicinity for many generations. As a young man, Mr. James served as an apprentice in the drug store of his uncle, Thomas Harper, in Seaford. He came to Nebraska in 1885 to take charge of a drug business for his brother, Same James, of Greenwood. A few years later he bought a store in Osceola. In 1889 he came to Grafton to conduct a drug business in which he has been engaged since that time. Mr. James was the only survivor of a family of six. His twin sister, Miss Melissa B. James passed away April 7, 1933, and another sister, Mrs. Annie G. Willey, December 3, 1933. Both were residents of Seaford. He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, Susan E. James; two daughters, Miss Glen H. James, librarian of the Hastings high school and Mrs. Ruth Patterson of Seattle, Wash., and two grandchildren, Ruth Patricia and Suzanne Lee Patterson. Mr. James was devoted to his home and his family. He was an honest, God-fearing man, who stood for wholesome and upright living. Having lived in Fillmore county for so many years, he is remembered kindly by many warm friends. He was much interested in public affairs and an interesting conversationalist. Although he has been in failing health for two years, he was active until the last and was confined to his home only a few days. Mrs. James is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Fisher of Fairmont. She came to Nebraska with her parents in 1871. Mr. and Mrs. James were married on the old homestead southwest of Fairmont, and established the home in Grafton in which the family still resides. Funeral services were conducted from the Grafton Congregational church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 6, Rev. Howard Pyche of Leigh officiated, assisted by Rev. Mr. Craig of the local church. Interment was in the family plot in the Fairmont cemetery.
