Description	:	U.S. ARMY Eugene John O'Hara, 87, of Sioux City died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites by the Morningside Post of the American Legion. Mr. O'Hara was born Jan. 8, 1918 in Sioux City, the son of Joseph and Effie (McCue) O'Hara. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1936. He served in the U.S Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. On Sept. 17, 1947, he married Ella Ann Pollock at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He worked for Galinsky Fruit Company before entering the service. After he was discharged, he went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad as a switchman. He worked there for more than 30 years. After he retired from the railroad, he worked as a custodian at Morningside Public Library. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council 5660. He was a member of American Legion Post 697 in Morningside. He enjoyed going to Las Vegas and playing Keno. He was known to have purchased a Powerball ticket, hoping to win the big one. He walked at Southern Hills Mall when he was able. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ella of Sioux City; a daughter, Maureen A. Keener of Rolla, Mo.; a son, James and his wife, Rosemary O'Hara of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Brooke McCarthy, Joseph Keener, Jamie Keener, Brittany O'Hara and Ryan O'Hara; two great-grandchildren, Michala and McKensie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Eugene; and a brother in infancy. Pallbearers will be Gordon Cochran, Leah Klumper, Mike Klumper, Mark Neyens, Jerry Kocmich and Jamie Keener. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan O'Hara, Joey Keener, Hans Van Waart, Leo Van Waart, V. Boston and Dick Ostrihonski.
