David Pachkole officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Mr. Takes worked at Ertl Company in Dyersville for 18 years. He was born January 12, 1947, in Cascade, son of Lawrence W. and Betty (Stokes) Takes He married Jane Ranes on Feb. 22, 2001, in Dubuque. He was a graduate of Western Dubuque High School in Epworth. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan. Surviving are his wife, Jane Takes, of Farley; two daughters, Sherry DeVita (friend, Wayne Flexer), of Dubuque, and Jodi (Mark) McPoland, of Dubuque; three grandchildren, Blair DeVita, Heather DeVita, and Teri McPoland; his mother, Betty Takes, of Farley; two brothers, Robert (Rita) Takes, of Dubuque, and Mark Takes (friend, Patti Rogers), of Farley; eight sisters, Helen McKeon, of Council Bluffs, Shirley (Jim) Delaney, of Dubuque, Lois Zapf, Mary (Jim) Lehmann, and Barb Kamp (friend, Dan Steffen) all of Farley, Rita Takes, of Asbury, Irene (Chuck) Ehlers, of Dubuque, Martha (Dave) Timmer, of Manchester; 18 nieces and nephews, and 12 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence W. Takes, on July 4, 1980. The family of Eugene would like to thank Dr. John Wahlen, Bob Couch, the dialysis unit and the nurses and staff of The Finley Hospital for all the wonderful care given to Eugene.
