Description	:	Eugene Lewis Hall, 81, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 peacefully at his home. Eugene was born May 15, 1925 a son of Ben Lewis Hall and Lula Craig Hall. He was the much-worshipped grandfather of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren. Read More	Eugene Lewis Hall, 81, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 peacefully at his home. Eugene was born May 15, 1925 a son of Ben Lewis Hall and Lula Craig Hall. He was the much-worshipped grandfather of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Marjorie Richardson Hall, brothers Eldridge and Carlton Hall and sister Shirley Hall. Eugene was especially proud of his heroic military service in both World War II and the Korean War where he served in the Navy aboard the USS Seid, the USS Putnam and the USS Soley. He was a hardworking and talented commercial and residential carpenter and he retired from Burleigh Construction Company. Eugene was a son, a brother, a sailor, a husband, a carpenter, a father, and a grandfather. He was a singer of many songs, a reader of all books, a great quoter of poetry, a builder of things, and a fabulous teller of stories both true and false. His passing will be felt by all who met him but it is his life and how it was lived so earnestly and with such joy that will forever echo through the generations of children and grandchildren who sat at his knee and heard his stories and his songs. For those of us that fortunate life will always be lived as he lived it, "Full speed ahead." The family will receive friends Thursday, June 8 from 7 to 8:30 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 9 at 1:00 pm at Whitten Park Avenue. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
