Description	:	Eugene R. "Babe" Loubier, 80, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Tampa General Hospital. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Waterville, Maine, on July 31, 1934, the son of the late Adelard and Virginia (Mathieu) Loubier. Babe grew up in Waterville and raised his family in Winslow, where he remained until retiring to Florida in 2002. Read More	Eugene R. "Babe" Loubier, 80, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Tampa General Hospital. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Waterville, Maine, on July 31, 1934, the son of the late Adelard and Virginia (Mathieu) Loubier. Babe grew up in Waterville and raised his family in Winslow, where he remained until retiring to Florida in 2002. He spent his entire working career as a Cobbler, establishing Babe's Shoe Repair in the early 1970s. Babe was a member of the Waterville Elks Lodge #905, Knights of Columbus and Le Club Calumet. Babe was a kind and gentle soul and was loved by all who knew him He was an avid golfer, New York Yankees and Boston Bruins fan and loved a great game of cards. His favorite times were when he was surrounded by his family and friends and enjoying a home cooked meal. He was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Verna (Pelletier). He is survived by his loving family, a son Mark "Pete" and Lucie Loubier of Winslow, his daughter Donna and Tom Birt of Bradenton, Florida, and his daughter Ruth and Daryl Schoellkopf of Waterville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Adam, Benjamin and Heather, and Nathan Loubier, Laura and Scott Hyler, Jason and Michelle, and Kathryn Schoellkopf and Savannah Deitch, and two great grandchildren Mikayla and Patric. Babe is also survived by his special friend Sandra Johndro. Babe also leaves his brothers, Eudor "Fern" Loubier of Connecticut, Gerald and Theresa Loubier of Florida, and Lucien and Anita Loubier of Winslow, a sister Marguerite Vigue of Waterville, and sisters-in-law Betty Loubier of Winslow, Jackie Vigue of Waterville, Simone and Howard Antworth of Vassalboro, and Gloria of California; along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends in both Maine and Florida. He was also predeceased by his brothers Lionel, John and Laurier Loubier, and sisters Judy, Delores and Loretta. There will be a committal at St. Francis Cemetery. (Morning Sentinel 8/21/2014)
