He was born April 26, 1926, in Clinton to Ingwer and Pauline Humphrey Gertson. He married Marcella "Sally" Kron on Nov. 18, 1944, in San Francisco. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed with DuPont for 37 years. He was a member of Clinton Moose Lodge 363, Clinton AMVETS, Clinton Eagles Club and the VFW. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael (Patricia) Gertson of Clinton, Terry (Marcia) Gertson of Putnam Station, N.Y., and Eugene (fiancee Michaelene) Getrson Jr. of Clinton; three daughters, Mrs. Linda (Louis Jr.) Kraciun of Camanche, Mrs. Penny (James) Campbell and Mrs. Mary (LeRoy) Jarrett, both of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Geraldine (Clare) Butz of Clinton. The family requests that memorials be made to the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one daughter.
