Description	:	Eugenia Cameron McClung Nesbitt , 90, died peacefully at home on January 3, 2006. She was born on September 11, 1915 in Lexington, Virginia, the daughter of Dr. O. Hunter McClung and his wife, Eugenia Harman McClung. Her mother died in the 1918 influenza pandemic and her father married Nancy Wayland, a Hopkins trained nurse. Read More	Eugenia Cameron McClung Nesbitt , 90, died peacefully at home on January 3, 2006. She was born on September 11, 1915 in Lexington, Virginia, the daughter of Dr. O. Hunter McClung and his wife, Eugenia Harman McClung. Her mother died in the 1918 influenza pandemic and her father married Nancy Wayland, a Hopkins trained nurse. After high school she attended Longwood College until she was old enough to enter the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated from the nursing school in 1938, and worked at Hopkins as a pediatric nurse for several years but contracted pulmonary TB while attending a patient there. She was sent to Trudeau TB Sanatorium at Saranac Lake, NY for treatment and eventually returned to pediatric nursing at Union Memorial Hospital. There she met and married Dr. John A. Nesbitt Jr. on May 8, 1943 at the Presbyterian Church in Lexington. They had four children: John A. Nesbitt III, MD of Baltimore, Eugenia Cameron Nesbitt Masland MSN of Weston, Mass., James Alexander Nesbitt of Catonsville, Md. and Hunter McClung Nesbitt of Rumbly, MD. She has four grandchildren: John David Nesbitt, David Reid Nesbitt, John Hunter Masland, and Molly Eugenia Masland and a new born great grandchild, Hunter Fowler Nesbitt. After her children were born she stopped her formal work as a nurse, but her training and innate nursing skills never went unutilized. She volunteered at the Well Baby Clinic in Catonsville and as a nurse at the Catonsville Elementary School, but mostly she administered quietly and tirelessly to her family, friends, and community. She joined the Catonsville Presbyterian Church after World War II when the family moved back to Baltimore and was active in the Sunday school, women�s groups, and for many years was on the board of the Presbyterian Home of Maryland. She continued to cherish her ties to Virginia and was an active member of the Virginia Women of Maryland. She was an avid reader and loved to embroider, knit and sew. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was famous for her homemade vegetable soup and �cheese crisps�. For many years Sunday dinner was a family tradition that frequently gathered extended family for her southern fried chicken. She moved with her husband to the Charlestown Community in Catonsville, MD. in 1997 and made many new friends. She will be remembered for her selfless concern for others, her interest in people, and her cheerful and stoic approach to life. Her brother, O. Hunter McClung, M.D. of Lexington and sister, Eleanor Powell of Holland, Virginia predeceased her. John McClung, M.D., her half-brother continues to reside in Lexington. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
