Eula Imogene Cohee was born on December 8, 1922 in Scranton, IA to Oscar and Bertha (Whitmore) Andress. She attended Scranton Public Schools and graduated as Salutatorian of her class in 1940. She worked at several jobs in Scranton upon graduation. She moved to Omaha, NE in January of 1941, where she worked as a secretary at the Omaha Stockyards. This is where she met John Cohee. They were married on August 7, 1955 at Hanscon Park Methodist Church in Omaha. They resided on a farm east of Beemer, NE, where they were in engaged in farming and raising livestock. Besides being an active and hard-working farm wife, Eula also worked two years at the Cuming County Assessor’s Office in West Point, NE and 21 years as the secretary at Beemer Public Schools. She liked her job at school so much that she said she would have paid the school to let her work there. They lived on the farm until 1973, when they moved into Beemer. Eula continued to live in Beemer after John’s death in 1987. She moved into Colonial Courts Assisted Living in 2003 and in 2009 into Colonial Haven Nursing Home. She resided there until her death on May 17, 2017. She joined the Beemer United Methodist Church on March 25, 1956 and was involved with the United Methodist Women, Adult Fellowship, Administrative Board, Sunday school teacher, Liturgist, and Communion Steward. She was also active in Eastern Star, Model Homemaker’s Project Club, Sr. Women’s Club, Women’s Bowling League, and Bridge Club. Eula lived life to the fullest. Besides working and keeping busy with all her activities, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling, playing cards, playing the piano, bus trips, and spending time with friends and especially family. She was so happy to be able to attend her granddaughter’s wedding last June in Lincoln, NE. Survivors include daughter, Sue Recker and husband, Dan, of Beemer, NE; grandson, Chris Recker of West Point, NE; grandson Brent Recker of North Sioux City, SD; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband, Trent Beach, of Lincoln, NE; and eight nieces and nephews. Eula was preceded in death by her parents; husband-John; sister-Clara Nelson; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Muriel and Hugo Schlueter, Neil and Lorna Cohee, and Vernon and Mary Cohee."
