Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Seevers was born Oct. 11, 1912, at Cliff Table west of Merna to William and Madge (Smith) Hircock. Survivors of the immediate family include her daughter, Leona (Herb) Deaver, of Broken Bow; two sons Vernon (Shirley) Seevers of Anselmo and Roland (Doris) Seevers of Grand Island; and two sisters, Della Narducci and Devana Poland, both of California. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, 25-and-a-half great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eulalia Louise (Hircock) Seevers was born Oct. 11, 1912, on a farm on the west table near Merna. Louise was the third child of nine born to Wm. "Willy" and Madge (Smith) Hircock. Most of her childhood was spent in this area of Custer County, but her family moved to Ames, Iowa, for a short time and also to San Jose, Calif. for a short while before again returning to Custer County. She was baptized in 1926 at the Cliff Community Church and later joined the Ortello Valley Church. In later years she attended the United Methodist Church of Merna. She attended schools in Nebraska, Iowa and California during grade school and graduated from high school at Merna. Shortly before her marriage, she traveled to California to be a nanny for her auntÕs new baby girl while her aunt taught school. But she only stayed a few months before coming home by train to marry her sweetheart. She made her own beautiful wedding dress in just two weeks time after returning from California. She married Guy Seevers on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1934, at Merna at the church parsonage with their parents in attendance. They made their first home in the Seevers homestead on Cliff Table with Guy's widowed mother. Later they made their own home on Cliff Table a few miles from the homestead. It was here their first child, a daughter, was born. In 1938-1939 they moved to Ortello Valley, where they farmed for eight years. During this time two sons joined the family. In 1947, Guy and Louise purchased a farm and ranch near Anselmo and here they spent the rest of their lives except for this past year when Louise moved to Custer Care at Broken Bow. She enjoyed her time here and passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, Dec. 29, 2007, at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 18 days. Louise's main interests in life were her family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She liked working in her yard and garden, raising chickens and turkeys and spending time outdoors. But she was also an excellent seamstress and in her younger years spent many hours at her sewing machine. She bought very few patterns, but instead would pick out something she liked for herself or a family member from a catalog and then cut her own pattern from newspaper and make it. Later she enjoyed many crafts, making beads, crocheting and woodworking. She made many toys such as trucks, stick horses, telephone stands and other small items. After her children were all out of high school she enrolled in a woodworking class at Broken Bow school night classes and earned an A for the class. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy; two great-grandsons; four brothers, George, Francis, Raymond and Donald Hircock; and two sisters, Lucille Hircock and Ruby Durham.
