A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 29, at Poplin Grove Baptist Church, with Reverend John Lindsay, Reverend Gary Pinion and Reverend David Alexander officiating. Whenever one would stop by her home, she was... Read More	Obituary ALBEMARLE--Mrs. Morton, 86, passed away, with her loving family by her side, on Saturday, March 26, 2005. She was born in Stanly County, NC on July 6, 1918. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 29, at Poplin Grove Baptist Church, with Reverend John Lindsay, Reverend Gary Pinion and Reverend David Alexander officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Eunice was a very gifted and talented lady. She was an excellent homemaker, and taught many people to cook, freeze food, and bake. Whenever one would stop by her home, she was excited to offer them something special she had just made. From the looks of her yard, one could tell that Eunice loved yard work. Anyone traveling the Saint Martin Road would be sure to notice her flowers, which she shared freely with many. For 60 years, she did beautiful handwork in crotchet, knitting, and cross-stitching. Her home was filled with special pieces as well as the homes of her family members and special friends. It was very evident in the way she lived her life that Eunice gave her life to the Lord as a young adult. A member of Poplin's Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years, she was involved in the life of the church as long as her health allowed. Life has been enriched for those who were privileged to know Eunice, affectionately known as 'Grandma.' Her most treasured times were spent with her family, especially her son and grandsons. She taught her family so many things including kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, and love. Thank you, 'Grandma,' for your caring, sharing, and loving. We love you, too. The family extends sincere appreciation to all of the 'family' at Stanly Manor for seven and a half months of excellent care. Survivors include her son, Eddie Morton and wife, Marilyn, of Albemarle, NC; grandsons, Jeffrey Ryan Morton and wife, Katherine, of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Jeremy Andrew Morton and special friend, Susan Chouanec, of Raleigh, NC; great grandson, Samuel Taylor Morton of Fuquay Varina, NC; brothers, Clegg Burleson and wife, Elsie, and Retha Burleson and wife, Lois, both of Albemarle, NC; sisters, Faye Morton and Ramelle Freeman, both of Albemarle, Sue Page and husband, Harold, of Norwood, NC, and Carolyn Slack and husband, Roger, of Albemarle; and sisters-in-law, Hazel Bost Burleson and Sarah Hatley Burleson, both of Albemarle. Mrs. Morton was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ethel Efird Burleson; her husband of 59 years, Edgar Cecil Morton, who passed away May 3, 2001; son, Stevie Duane Morton, born December 31, 1942 and passed away at 13 months; and brothers, Hoyle, Hazel and Max Burleson. Flowers are welcome, but memorials may be made to Poplin Grove Baptist Church, 220 Poplin Grove Church Road, Albemarle, NC 28001, or Stanly Manor, 'Resident Activity Fund', 625 Bethany Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
