Description	:	Eva and Anthony came separately to America through Ellis Island around 1910. They met in Nashua. Eva never learned to read and write English. Anthony took classes and did learn to read and write English on a limited basis. Both retained their Lithuanian accents. I believe Anthony became a citizen. I believe Anthony became a citizen. Eva never had the time to study the language as she was busy raising the children. Anthony worked for thirty-six years at Nashua Corporation on Franklin St. in the paper coating department. He purchased as much land as he could afford in the Interval St. area where he built the family home. At first the bathroom was an outhouse. In the thirties they added the bathroom to the house. At first it did not have electricity and the house was lighted with kerosene lamps and was always heated with wood. He used his purchased lots to grow vegetables and to raise animals for the family. They had chickens, pigs, a cow and a large garden and several fruit trees. I was told that the kids used to collect garbage from the richer neighborhoods to feed to the pigs. The kids were made fun of at school because of their garbage collecting. Eva canned and preserved food for the winter months. There was always plenty to eat. Anthony supplemented his income in the twenties by bootlegging. None of the kids completed high school except Alfred. The boys were all US Marines. Anthony and Eva gave land to Anthony Jr., Joseph, Alfred and Josephine to build houses.
