Miss Eva was operated on for appendicitis Sunday, November 21, 1920 and for a time she was thought to be improving, but her condition gradually became more serious and early Sunday morning the angel of death carried from our midst one of our prettiest and brightest little girls. Miss Gagnon was born in Percy 17 years ago, the daughter of Fred and Delphine (Valliere) Gagnon of that town. She came to Berlin with her parents 12 years ago and attended school at St. Regis Academy and later became a student at our local High School. For the past year Miss Gagnon was employed at the Evans day goods store, where her pleasing personality won for her a host of friends. A solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated at the Angel Guardian Church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, which was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. Father Leclerc, Morin and Destroismaisons officiating. A special choir furnished the music. Four young ladies of the Canada Society were ribbon bearers, while four brothers of the deceased were pali bearers, Frank, Ernest and Albert Gagnon of this city and Tellisphore of Southhampton, Mass., also two cousins, Arthur and Thomas Gagnon. The remains were taken to Percy, her former home for interment. There were many beautiful floral pieces which bore mute testimony of the high esteem in which the young lady was held by her many friends in the city. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the father, sisters and brothers of the deceased. Out of town relatives to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Tellisphore Gagnon of Southhampton, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Renaud and baby of Lewiston, Me., Miss Laura Renaud of Lewiston, Me., Mr. and Mrs. Felix Valliere of Groveton, Mrs. E. Schoff.
