MS Eva Jane Shafer was born 25 Feb 1860 on the old Shafer farm that was owned by her grandfather, David Shafer, near Enlow, Findlay Township, Allegheny Co., PA. David was a soldier in the War of 1812. Eva was educated in the township schools and the Frankfort Springs Academy in Beaver Co., PA. In 1880, she visited near Creston, OH. While on this visit, she met the stepson of her cousin, Mary Jane Burns Fuller, and on 20 Apr 1882, she married Burton D. Fuller, son of Hiram A. and Amanda High Fuller. Her cousin was now her mother-in-law. After their marriage they located on the farm formerly owned by Mr. Fuller's grandfather, John High, near Creston, OH. The original stock of the Fullers came from Connecticut. They became members of the Jackson Presbyterian Church in Jackson, OH, in 1895. Eva's husband died 24 Feb 1888, and is buried in the Jackson Cemetery, Wayne Co., OH. His death, coming so early in life, left his young widow with two children, Amy, 4, and Lee Burton, 1. About 1913, she and her children went to the State of Washington and located in Wenatchee, at the time a town of about 5,000 inhabitants, situated in the great fruit belt of the northwest. They soon caught the western spirit and purchased an orchard, but disposed of it later. Eva was described as a woman of cheerful, sunny disposition and always on the alert for the humorous side of life. She had considerable literary talent and often wrote for publication. Eva died 24 May 1930 in Wenatchee, WA.
