Description	:	Mrs. Eva Shoemaker Fitzgerald, 62, native and former resident of Vesuvius vicinity died Sunday afternoon (Nov. 5, 1961) in a hospital in Hagerstown, Md. after an illness of several hours. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a daughter of the late Jordan Shoemaker and Ett Shoemaker. For a number of years the Fitzgeralds lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a daughter of the late Jordan Shoemaker and Ett Shoemaker. For a number of years the Fitzgeralds lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before that time they lived in Baltimore and Hagerstown. After Mr. Fitzgerald's retirement as an engineer for the N. & W. Railroad they moved to Trego, Md. about four months ago. She was a member of the Chase Avenue Methodist Church, Cincinnati. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cincinnati and the auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Surviving are her husband Eustace B. Fitzgerald, Trego, Md.; two sons, Elwood B. Fitzgerald, Waynesboro, Penn. and Robert W. Fitzgerald, Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. James R. Gordon, Rt. 2, Staunton and Mrs. Richard Wilson, Cincinnati, Ohio; also four brothers, James Shoemaker, Beckley, W. Va., Charles Shoemaker, Baltimore Md., Thomas Shoemaker, Holland and Leonard Shoemaker, Waynesboro; five sisters, Mrs. Estelle Newman, Grottoes, Mrs. Laura Lawhorne, Cornwall, Mrs. Mattie Humphries, Mrs. Marcus Cash, and Mrs.Raymond Berkstressor, all of Vesuvius; also nine grandchildren. The body will be brought to the Fred Henry Funeral Home Tuesday morning where the family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 Tuesday evening. A funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 8, 1961) at two o'clock in the Vesuvius Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Marvin F. Kerby, Jr., pastor of the church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Steeles Tavern. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mrs. Fitzgerald. The body will remain at the Fred Henry Funeral Home until noon Wednesday and then will be placed in the Church.
