A large number of people came, despite the bad roads, to honor the memory of this good woman who has spent her entire lifetime in this community and whose death casts a shadow of gloom over it. Mrs. Crawford was reared in the community north of Lone Tree and since her marriage many years ago has resided in Lone Tree where she has given of her time and talent to the providing of a good and comfortable home for her husband and two sons. In this capacity she has been very successful and in this home for which she sacrificed all she will be very keenly missed. The following obituary was read at the funeral service on Friday afternoon of last week. Eva May Plum was born in Pleasant Valley, Johnson County Iowa, Oct. 26, 1871. On Feb. 12, 1903 she was married to Wm Crawford. To this union two sons were born. Immediately following her marriage she came to Lone Tree, occupying the place which has since been her home. About 4 years ago she underwent her first operation and for a time seemed to gain her normal health. However, several operations followed and her health and strength gradually failed until it culminated in death at 9:25, Wednesday forenoon, December 3rd, 1924, aged 53 years, 1 month and 7 days. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Marion W. and Donald A., her mother, Mrs. M. Plum of Iowa City and one brother Roscoe A. of Lone Tree. Mrs. Crawford was essentially a wife and mother giving her time and strength to make a home for her husband and sons. She was of a religious nature and so far as she was able, she saw to it that her family and herself gave attention to spiritual things. The pallbearers were as follows: George Thompson, William Wadsworth, F. H. Kirchner, Herman Wiese, Joe Hudachek and Frank Thompson. Relatives from out of town who were here to attend the funeral service were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Klotz and Mike Lennabaugh, all of West Liberty, Mrs. M. Plum of Iowa City, Roscoe Plum and family of Lone Tree and Will Carver of Pierson, Iowa. The Reporter editor extends to the sorrowing relatives of this good woman, sympathy in their loss.
