Description	:	Evangeline G. Young, 105, of Belle Fourche passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Belle Fourche Regional Health Care Center. She was born January 11, 1906, at her aunt's home near Sour Dough Flat, about 12 miles west of Belle Fourche, to Frank and Etta Geis. She had two brothers, Clarence and Leslie Geis, and a half-brother Earl Syers. She attended country school until the 8th grade, walking 5 miles or more to school. Young, 105, of Belle Fourche passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Belle Fourche Regional Health Care Center. She was born January 11, 1906, at her aunt's home near Sour Dough Flat, about 12 miles west of Belle Fourche, to Frank and Etta Geis. She had two brothers, Clarence and Leslie Geis, and a half-brother Earl Syers. She attended country school until the 8th grade, walking 5 miles or more to school. It was cold and wet so they would wrap gunny sacks around their feet for overshoes. Times were very hard and they would shoot jack rabbits for food. Eva met Alfred Young in 1929 while she was employed at a boarding house in Belle Fourche, later getting married February 29, 1932. In 1933 they started Young Cleaners in Belle Fourche where she was a seamstress. In 1934 Eva and Alfred were blessed with a son, Alfred James. Eva has lived in the Belle Fourche area all of her life and has been a caretaker for a greater part of that time. Her care included those who were homeless, sick, hungry, and friendless. She was a member of the Weslyan Methodist Church in Belle Fourche for approximately 65 years. She enjoyed donating her time at church functions. She loved gardening and was an excellent cook and seamstress. She is survived by her son, Alfred James (Dixie) Young of Edmunds, WA; three grandchildren, Marilyn Young, Vickie (Michael) Friedline and Jay (Leslie) Young all of the Seattle, WA area; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jerry and Sally Huffman of Sturgis She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Young; two brothers, Clarence and Leslie Geis; half-brother Earl Syers; and two infant sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.
