Read More	Livermore Falls - Evangeline “Van” (Pellerin) Bourassa, 85, died on Friday, October 16, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born to Arthur and Juliette (St. Amand) Pellerin on Monday, May 13, 1935 in Winslow, Maine, the eldest of seven children. She grew up in Winslow on Clinton Avenue, among extended family, graduating from Mt. Merici Academy in 1953. On April 14, 1956, she married Lionel “Lee” Bourassa at St. John Church in Winslow. It’s a piece of family history of which Van is very proud that she and Lee, as well as all five of their children, were all delivered by Dr. Harvey Bourassa, Lee’s uncle. They started their family in Winslow and eventually purchased her childhood home at 73 Clinton Avenue from her parents. In 1966, they relocated to Livermore Falls, where Lee began working for International Paper Company. Lee and Van worked side-by-side to renovate the Victorian home on Richardson Avenue, where they planted a garden every year and the children grew up, playing with the neighborhood children, and all graduating from Livermore Falls High School. During the years that the children were at home, Van was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes for herself and her children, including prom dresses for the girls, and window curtains; knitted and crocheted; and dabbled in tole painting for a time. As the children became old enough to look out for on another, she worked outside the home in various jobs, part-time and full-time. She made the most wonderful Christmases, even during the lean years. In 1986, Lee and Van built a new home in Farmington, with wonderful views of the Sandy River. Shortly after Lee’s retirement in 1996, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Van was his primary caregiver, until his death in January 2001. Later in 2001, following the plan that she and Lee had made, she sold the Farmington home and returned to their hometown of Winslow, moving into a new condominium. As happens in the Circle of Life, as she aged into her 80s, Van returned to Livermore Falls in 2019 to be closer to several of her children and grandchildren, where they could help her as she coped with declining health. Above all, she and Lee taught their children the value of hard work. Van was a dedicated and tireless homemaker, and in spite of Lee’s and her children’s best efforts, she never learned to relax and “take a break.” She never missed a chance to tell people how grateful she was for her five children and to remind us that “all we can do is pray.” Van is survived by her five children: Melissa (Stephen) Rockwood, Ellsworth, Maine, and their children, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Condon, Peachtree City, Georgia; Tessa Rockwood, Franklin, Maine; and Nathan Rockwood, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China; Kathleen Waterman, Jay, Maine, and her children, Samuel Waterman and Megan Waterman, Gardiner, Maine; and Molly Thibodeau, Auburn, Maine; Ann (Scott) Mayer, South Portland, Maine; Gerard (Wendy) Bourassa, Jay, Maine, and their children, Ryan (Heather) Bourassa, Jay, Maine; and Nicholas (Samantha) Bourassa, Wilton, Maine; and Paula Bourassa and companion Kenny Jacques, Livermore Falls, Maine; great-grandchildren, Wilder and Sullivan Condon, Genevieve Waterman, Braydon O’Donal, Zellie and George Grant, Griffin Thibodeau, Jace and Keslee Bourassa, and Mila and Malory Bourassa; four brothers: Arthur (Sandra) Pellerin, Winslow, Maine; Frederick Pellerin (Bill Witherell), Wales, Maine and Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Paul (Theresa) Pellerin; Robert (Rhonda) Pellerin; and one sister, Ann (Roland) Michaud, all of Winslow, Maine; brother-in-law Roger Poulin, Pawley’s Island, SC; a special cousin, David (Patricia) Gagnon, West Palm Beach, FL and Palermo, ME; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Esther “Tess” Poulin. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM, Thursday, October 22nd at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street, Jay, Maine. Burial will take place at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Maine, at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME. 04240 or Seniors Plus, 8 Falcon Road, Lewiston, ME 04240.
