Mrs. Evie Power, familiarly known as "Aunt Ninie" Power, widow of the late Mr. Luke D. Power, and mother of Clerk of Court C. A. Power, Deputy Clerk W. S. Power and Miss Eulie Power of this city and Mrs. Arch C. Owings, of Gray Court, died at her home on Irby Avenue in this city early Saturday morning and was buried at New Harmony Church Sunday at 11 o'clock, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. S. H. Templemah and the music for the occasion being rendered by a choir of good voices from Laurens and the New Harmony sections. The attendance at the funeral, composed of hundreds of people from several sections of the county attested to the warm esteem in which the deceased was held by many friends. Mrs. Power had been in a serious condition since July of last year when she was stricken with paralysis. Since then she had been an invalid, her condition remained practically unchanged until about the middle of last week when her strength began to fail, her condition gradually becoming weaker until she fell quietly asleep. The deceased was 77 years old and was the daughter of the late Probate Judge W. H. Langston. Of this family she is survived by three sisters and two brothers as follows: Mrs. Ettie Cunningham, Mrs. Jno. R. Finley and Mr. T. L. Langston, of Madden, Mrs. Emma Motes Cunningham, of Leesville, and Rev. W. J. Langston, of Columbia. Mrs. Power had many admirable traits of character, not the least of which was her sympathy for the poor and needy to whom she often responded in a substantial way. During her girlhood days she joined the Baptist church and for many years was a consistent member at New Harmony where on last Sunday her body was laid to rest and her grave covered with a mound of beautiful flowers as the last token of respect for a loving mother, kind neighbor and Christian woman.
