Born on December 17, 1919 in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Hazle Amos and Leila Ann (Knox) Amos and the widow of Sam Olin Caldwell. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Read More	Evelyn (Amos) Caldwell, 86 of Spartanburg, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at her home. Born on December 17, 1919 in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Hazle Amos and Leila Ann (Knox) Amos and the widow of Sam Olin Caldwell. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A member of El Bethel United Methodist Church, she was the oldest continuing member, a Sunday School teacher for 64 years, a member of the Dawsey Class, the United Methodist Women, Seniors in Action, and had served on various committees of the church. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and a 1938 graduate of Spartanburg High School. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Caldwell Holcombe and Donna Caldwell Walker and her husband Jerry all of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, Debbie Hughes and her husband Jerry of Roebuck and Timothy Lee Walker and his wife Kim of Spartanburg; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Walker, Caroline and Hannah Hughes. She was predeceased by a brother, Defoix Amos, and sisters, Bricey A. DelVecchio and Mazie A. Williams. Visitation was 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jack Caldwell, the Rev. Dr. Larry Amos, and the Rev. James B. Carter. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials could be made to El Bethel United Methodist Church, 820 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
