Meyer was born Jan. 17, 1919, in rural Scribner, to Bernard and Anna (Havekost) Meyer. She attended District 35 rural school and graduated from Scribner High School in 1936. She married Wilbert Von Seggern on Sept. 3, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Hooper; he died Aug. 14, 1984. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the family farm. She was a lifelong resident of the Scribner area, until moving to Nye Square in Fremont in the fall of 2004. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and a lifetime member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She played the organ at St. John's Lutheran Church for 64 years. She is survived by: four children, Dean (and wife, Mary) Von Seggern of Scribner, Jane (and husband, Robert) Wegner and Kenneth (and wife, Judy) Von Seggern, all of Omaha, and Dale (and spouse, Michael) Nelson of Los Angeles; two sisters, Gertrude Weitzenkamp of Hooper and LaVonne (and husband, Delbert Moeller) of Scribner; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. The Rev. Kim Cottingham will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends 3-5 p.m., at Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural Scribner. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
