Arnett received word from Hastings, last Wednesday morning that his daughter Bernice who was attending the Hastings Business college was seriously ill. The remains were brought to Litchfield Saturday evening and funeral services were held from the Christian church in this city Wednesday afternoon and the remains were taken to Phillips, Nebraska for interment. Bernice was nineteen years old and this was her first year at Hastings Business college, where she was a very brilliant student. Her father Mr. A.L. Arnett and a sister, Mrs. Richard Dickerson were at her bedside when death came. Evelyn Berneice Arnett was born March 3rd, 1915, at Litchfield, Nebraska. She departed this life March 31, 1934, at Grand Island, Nebraska, age 19 years and 28 days. When about ten years of age Berneice confessed faith in her savior and was buried with him in baptism uniting with the church here in Litchfield and continuing a faithful member until her death. She grew to womanhood here among you and was known and loved by all. She attended the Litchfield school and graduated from High school in 1933, earning one of the scholarships. She was attending The Hastings Business College, when she became ill. Her father took her to the hospital at Grand Island, where everything that medical skill can do was done for her. She leaves to mourn her loss her father, mother, grand mother who was a real mother to her, her sister Iola Dickerson, four uncles, seven aunts, thirty-two cousins, and a great number of young folks, among them is her Sunday School class who furnished the music. Funeral services were held from the Christian church in this city, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. W.C. Lessley, pastor of the church officiating, assisted by Rev. A.W. Johnson, pastor of the M.E. Church. Interment was made in the Phillips, Nebraska cemetery.
