(From the collection of Gwen Christie) Evelyn Conrad-Palmer, 83, passed away peacefully at her own home, Westmount Manor, Bridgewater, on Sunday, February 27, 2000, after a courageous bettle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Today, her picture holds a spot in the Bridgewater DesBrisay Museum's section of "Music of Years gone by." Evelyn was a life member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater and was an adherent of Pleasantville Baptist Church. Evelyn was past Noble Grand of Atlantic Rebekah Lodge 52 and received her 50 year jewel June 17, 1996. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Aulixiary, Branch 24, Bridgewater. She worked at the Christian Education Centre Day Care for several years and will be remembered by many who she served in her capacity as Avon representative for 11 years in the 1960s. She is survived by her only child, daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Brenton Corkum), Pleasantville; sister, Edith (Mrs. Harold Rafuse), Hebbville; three loving granddaughters, Marcia (Mrs. Stewart Hebb), Conquerall Mills; Patti (Mrs. Andreas Schief), Oyama, British Columbia; Beth (Mrs. Kevin Cameron), New Minas; precious great-grandchildren, Blake, Ben, and Kalynda Hebb, Conquerall Mills; Christopher, Tristan, and McKayla Cameron, New Minas; numerous nieces and nephews and very good friends, Wallace Garber and his daughter, Marilyn. She was predeceased by her first husband, Blake Palmer and second husband, Roderick Conrad. Visitation will be today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Doug Porter officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Immediate family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasantville Baptist Church, Senior Wheels Association, Lunenburg County Victorian Order of Nurses, the Leukemia Research Division of the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.
