She graduated from Barnes City High School in 1937. She married Rex Pitman on August 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Read More	Evelyn D.Pitman, 92, of Montezuma died February 15, 2012 at the Montezuma Nursing & Rehab Center. Evelyn was born on September 20, 1919 to Scott and Emma(Mayer)Dee. She graduated from Barnes City High School in 1937. She married Rex Pitman on August 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She and Rex lived in several places including Louisiana and California while Rex was in the Air Force. Following WWII, they moved to a family farm east of Montezuma in 1947. They began farming and Evelyn was a homemaker and later worked at the Montezuma Schools as a cook for several years. To this union four children were born. Evelyn was very active and enjoyed her time as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Montezuma Presbyterian Church, UPW, and the Willing Workers Club. She served as a board member of Diamond Life and lived to bowl and attend the 17th Bombers Group reunion each year. She also enjoyed many fishing trips to Minnesota with her family, bird watching and gardening. She was a true farmer's wife and loved farm life and all it had to offer. Evelyn is survived by her children: Rex Pitman ll of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert(JoAnn)Pitman of Florence, Montana, Sandra(Charlie)Fry of Barnes City, Iowa and Joe(Deb)Pitman of Montezuma, Iowa. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Michael Fry, Christopher Fry, CJ Fry, Shaun Pitman, Scott Pitman and Evelyn Pitman, three great grandchildren and her sister Helen(Bill)Silvers of Salt Lake City, Utah. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Rex, her brother Robert Dee and her sister Phyllis Van deWalle. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be in the Jackson Township Cemetery at Montezuma. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 pm.
