Description	:	Evelyn Doris Barber, 94, of Eldridge formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the Kahl Home in Davenport after a short illness. Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the First Congregational Church – DeWitt, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time at the church. Evelyn Doris Fischer was born on June 16, 1926 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Emma (Heneke) Fischer. She graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1943. She married Clifford Barber on January 23, 1944, they had been married nearly 65 years when Clifford passed away on October 26, 2009. Evelyn has been employed by several local businesses, the Calendar Factory, Iowa Mutual, International Paper, and Stolper in DeWitt. She was a long time and active member of the First Congregational Church in DeWitt, and was a over 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Evelyn is survived by her son Alan of Sterling Heights, Michigan, her grandson: Bryan (Tammie) Barber of New Bern, North Carolina, her granddaughter: Michelle Ruegsegger of Capac, Michigan; three great-grandchildren: Grace and Gavin Ruegsegger and Bryan Ayden Barber; brother and sister-in-law: Ellis and Myrtle Barber of Eldridge, Iowa, sister-in-law: Virginia Soutar of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Clifford, she was preceded in death by her parents, three siters, one brother, and her son: Gary. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, the First Congregational United Church of Christ in DeWitt, or Grandhaven Activities. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is honored to serve the Barber family.
