Description	:	Evelyn Ferneding died September 17, 2006 at the age of 86. She was born December 10, 1919 in Ismay, Montana, one of five children born to Carrol and Mildred Brooks. Evelyn was raised on the family homestead near Garland, Montana where she survived a rattlesnake bite at the age of six. In 1937, the family moved to Washington State where Evelyn found work as a welder at the Vancouver Shipyards during WWII. Read More	Evelyn Ferneding died September 17, 2006 at the age of 86. She was born December 10, 1919 in Ismay, Montana, one of five children born to Carrol and Mildred Brooks. Evelyn was raised on the family homestead near Garland, Montana where she survived a rattlesnake bite at the age of six. In 1937, the family moved to Washington State where Evelyn found work as a welder at the Vancouver Shipyards during WWII. In 1948, she married Paul Ferneding and was bookkeeper for his construction company for many years. Evelyn loved to travel and was especially fond of the Oregon Coast and Hawaii. In addition to her family and many nieces and nephews, she loved her dogs...later in life providing foster care for 2nd Chance Companions. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents, Carrol and Mildred Brooks; and by her sister, Grace Bunch and brother, Howard Brooks. Survivors include her sister, June Amundson and brother, Robert Brooks, both of Battle Ground, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Donations, in Evelyn's name, may be sent to the Ray Hickey Hospice House.
