Read More	Obituary of Evelyn MOORE-PRINDLE "Mrs. Tom Prindle, 43, Dies In Trailer Blaze Maquoketa, Iowa, Tuesday, August 30, 1966 Maquoketa firemen had no chance to save Mrs. Tom (Evelyn) Prindle early Saturday morning as the Prindle trailer home near Pershing Road was a solid mass of flames even before their arrival. Tom Prindle was found by the first arrivals in a badly burnt condition and in shock in the yard of the dwelling. He was rushed to the Jackson County Public Hospital and then to Iowa City University hospital for treatment. The fire was discovered as Maquoketa Policeman Roger Heilig was making routine rounds in a squad car at 1:30 a.m. He had passed the Municipal light plant and was approaching Pershing road when he noticed the light in the vicinity of the Bowman Cattle Co. He reported it in as a "bad brush fire" by radio before he sped to the scene. Almost at the same time Tom Taylor, 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor of West Pershing road, saw the blaze from his bedroom window at the rear of the house. The Taylor home is situated on the corner of Pershing road and a lane which leads to the Bowman Cattle Co. and to the residences of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Prindle and their son and family, the Ted Prindles. Tom Taylor rushed to the fire scene while his father called the police-fire operator at the City Hall. He and Heilig wrapped Prindle in a blanket and helped place him in the ambulance. Taylor was advised that Heilig had just called in with the fire information. Mrs. Prindle's body was found on her bed at about 2:20 a.m. Medical examiner Dr. J.A. Broman pronounced her dead from massive burns. As of Monday noon, the University Hospital reported that Mr. Prindle was "seriously burnt on the upper part of his body." They declined an elaboration on his condition at the present time. The State Fire Marshall's office routinely checks as to the cause in all fires involving fatalities. But until Mr. Prindle was able to be interviewed the local department had no leads as to the cause."
