Description	:	Evelyn Patzer Reedy, 83, went to sleep in the Lord May 10, 2014, in Harvey's St. Aloisius Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday May 16 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Harvey. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Evelyn was born August 7, 1930 on a farm south of Harvey, ND. She was the daughter of Gust and Mary (Winter) Hannemann. She grew up on that farm with 6 older sisters, 1 older brother, and 1 younger brother. She moved with her parents into Hurdsfield in 1936 and attended the first 4 years of school in Hurdsfield. The family moved back to the farm in 1944 and she attended grades 5-8 at the Eigenheim country school. Due to severe eczema she dropped out of school when she was in the 9th grade. She later got her GED and graduated from high school after her children started school. Evelyn came from real pioneer stock and learned how to work hard at an early age. She took piano lessons when she was 12 for 1 year. She was also very good at playing by ear. She and her siblings spent many hours at the piano singing and playing. Piano playing was a major enjoyment for her all of her life. On August 29, 1948 Evelyn married her heartthrob Robert Patzer in a double wedding with Berdette and Ardella Reiswig in the old Harvey Seventh-day Adventist Church. For a few years Bob and Evie farmed during which time both Tom and Elreen were born. Bob developed a love for flying from his brother-in-law Bennie Knecht. As time went by he became a crop duster. While he flew, Evie did all the chores on the farm as well as maintained the household. She raised a huge garden and did a lot of canning. Evie attended the Congregational Church while growing up. She joined the Seventh-day Adventist church shortly after she and Bob were married. She served in various offices of the church and was church pianist much of her life. Evie enjoyed quilting. She would spend the winter months with a quilt stretched on the stretcher in their basement. She used a very fine stitch and her quilts were works of art. She gave them as much appreciated gifts to her children and grandchildren. In 1962 Bob and Evie sold their cows and machinery and moved to Mandan. They bought in with the Chase Brothers Flying Service. Bob crop dusted with them for 3 years. In 1965 they bought an aerial applicators business in Coy, Arkansas. Evelyn did all the bookkeeping for their crop dusting business and kept the offices nice and clean. She also was a fastidious housekeeper. They lived in Arkansas until 1976. Then they moved back to Harvey. Sometime after Bob passed away on October 12, 1999, a former pastor of Evelyn's began corresponding with her. His wife had passed away and he remembered her from his congregation in Arkansas. This eventually resulted in marriage and a move to Louisiana. Evie married Blaine Reedy on October 27, 2000 in Pineville, Louisiana. This marriage lasted for a little over 2 years until Mr. Reedy passed away on January 1, 2003. Evelyn moved back to Harvey where she lived until entering the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in August, 2010, where she resided until her death. Survivors include a son Tom (Peggy) Patzer of Sherman, Texas; daughter Elreen (Kent) Olson of Harvey, ND; three grandchildren Jeremy Patzer, Jennifer (David) Lowder, Meghan (Justin) Kleven; 9 great grandchildren; sister Esther (Wendy) Piatz of Belgrade, Montana, brother Alvin (Nancy) Hannemann of Cheney, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters: Lorraine (Albert) Brandt, Erna (Art) Nutz, Albertina (Bennie) Knecht, Elma ( died at 2 ½ months old), Gertrude (died at 10 months old), Josephine (Art) Henne, Ruth (Leon) Cook, two brothers: Elmer (died at 2 years old), and Edward (Bernice).
