Evelyn Soucek was born Oct. 12, 1909, in Dougherty, daughter of Michael and Alice (Conners) Hogan. She married Emil R. Soucek on June 23, 1936, in Dougherty. Evelyn lived her whole life in the Dougherty area. She graduated from Hamilton Business College and then worked for the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office. She also worked for St. Patrick's School in Dougherty. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, raising flowers and visiting with people. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, Ed Soucek, of Dougherty; one brother, Merlin "Mike" Hogan, and his wife, Linda, of Webster City; one niece, Kim Hogan of New York, N.Y., and many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
