Description	:	Evelyn I. Schumacher, 93, Glendive, Mont., formerly of Bismarck, died May 12, 2000, in a Glendive nursing home. Services will be held at noon Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Bismarck. Evelyn was born Nov. 26, 1906, in Elgin, the daughter of John and Margaret (Bauer) Hipfner. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Elgin High School in 1926. Evelyn was born Nov. 26, 1906, in Elgin, the daughter of John and Margaret (Bauer) Hipfner. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Elgin High School in 1926. She obtained her teaching certificate and taught in Elgin area rural schools as well as in Glen Ullin. She married Joseph E. Schumacher, on April 17, 1929, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. They farmed west of Heart Butte until they purchased a farm near Baldwin in 1946. They retired and moved to Bismarck in 1957. She had been a resident of the nursing home in Glendive since 1986. Evelyn was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society, and enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Harold Rants Sr., Bismarck; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Louis and Virginia, Washburn, Wesley and Eleanor, Great Falls, Mont., Larry and Peggy, Bismarck, and Agnes Schumacher, Bismarck; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph, who died in 1985; her son, Wilbert; and three sisters, Pearl Munger, Loretta Ulmer and Olivia Burton.
