Maag was born on August 23, 1916 to Frank and Anna (Flemming) Tschakert in Codington County near Florence, South Dakota. She was raised in the Florence area and attended school in Florence. On October 15, 1942 she married William "Bill" N. Maag at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Florence. The couple farmed in the Dexter Township until 1975. Bill passed away on March 27, 1998 then Evelyn moved to Florence. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, quilting, crocheting, word search puzzles, reading and counted cross stitch. Evelyn was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James. Evelyn is survived by her children, Keith (Janet) Maag, Ronald Maag, Robert (Wendy) Maag, Donna Redlin, Charlene (Steve) Galas, Bryan (Carolyn) Maag and Julie (Jim) Stolp; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
