Description	:	ELIZABETHTON - Mrs. Evelyn L. Hardin, formerly of 215 Daytona Place, Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Hillview Health Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Hardin was the daughter of the late Daniel Stover and Della Grindstaff Peters and was a native of Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Crawford E. Read More	ELIZABETHTON - Mrs. Evelyn L. Hardin, formerly of 215 Daytona Place, Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Hillview Health Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Hardin was the daughter of the late Daniel Stover and Della Grindstaff Peters and was a native of Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Crawford E. Hardin. Mrs. Hardin graduated from ETSU with a B.S. in Education. She was a retired school teacher having taught in the Carter County School System for thirty-three years at both Keenburg Elementary and Unaka Elementary schools. She was a past Sunday school teacher of the Friendship Class at First Baptist Church where she was a member. Mrs. Hardin volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Sycamore Shoals Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of AARP. She was a former member of the Elizabethton Women's Club, the Retired Teachers Association, a thirty year member of the Julius Dugger Chapter of the DAR, and a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Sycamore Chapter 163 where she served for fifty years. Mrs. Hardin loved to read, write poetry, travel, and research genealogy. She also loved cats. Mrs. Hardin is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marilyn Hardin Elizabethton; two grandsons, Greg Hardin and his wife Terry, Huntington, WV, David Hardin and his fiancee Kristina Lewis, Kingston Springs, TN; and a great-granddaughter, Josie Lou Hardin. A very special friend Vivian Perry also survives. The funeral service for Mrs. Hardin will be conducted on Friday, February 13, 2009, at 3:00 PM at the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace Elizabethton with Dr. Jim Royston and Rev. Richard Estep officiating. Music will be under the direction of Debbie Woods and John Bunn. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1:30-3:00 PM on Friday prior to the service and at the residence of her son Jim, 132 Wedgewood Circle, Elizabethton, at other times. Committal will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Lauri Jo Cranford officiating. Active pallbearers will be Reece Cole, Eddie Shallcross, John Wiggins, Larry Woods, Carroll Billheimer, Johnny Geagley, and David Wetzel. Honorary pallbearers will be Ramsey Pollard, Ambers Wilson, Dr. Harold Lane, and Don Cooper. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association Northeast, 207 Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37601. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Hillview Health Center, especially Tammy Carver, Teresa Clark, and Kelly Whisenhunt for their loving care of Mrs. Hardin.
