She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Lyons to Harry E. and Emma (Osberg) Cates. She graduated from Lyons High School in May 1944. She married Garland Ramsey on Nov. 25, 1947, in Lyons. Read More	Evelyn Louise Ramsey September 7, 1926 ~ January 1, 2009 Evelyn L. Ramsey, 82, of Lyons died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City. She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Lyons to Harry E. and Emma (Osberg) Cates. She graduated from Lyons High School in May 1944. She married Garland Ramsey on Nov. 25, 1947, in Lyons. They farmed all of their married life until they retired and moved into Lyons. Her husband preceded her in death Jan. 2, 2000. She was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Happy Days Senior Center, where she held various offices. Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Jacobson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jane (and husband, John) Williams of Lyons; a sister, Celia Southwell of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Aileen (and husband, Peter) Heitzelman of Fremont; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons with the Rev. Richard Karhol officiating. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.
