Mrs. Evelyn Mae Collins George, 96, of the Francisco Community, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. George was born in Patrick County, VA, June 8, 1912 to the late Giles Marion and Nancy Arilla Handy Collins. Mrs. George was a longtime member of Francisco Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Evelyn Mae Collins George, 96, of the Francisco Community, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. George was born in Patrick County, VA, June 8, 1912 to the late Giles Marion and Nancy Arilla Handy Collins. Mrs. George was a longtime member of Francisco Presbyterian Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and also a dear friend to many. Mrs. George was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, J. Samuel George; her step-mother, Mary Martin Collins; sister, Ola George; three brothers, Earl, Amon and Martin Collins; and a son-in-law, Delbert Wood. S Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., February 21, 2009 at Francisco Presbyterian Church officiated by Pastor Tracey Collins, the Rev. Rickey Rogers and the Rev. Bernard Handy with interment to follow in the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends Friday, February 20, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain, and other times at Evelyn's home in Francisco. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, c/o Barbara Wright, 3660 Horseshoe Road, Westfield, NC 27053. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Stokes County. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the George family.
