Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. Evelyn Pyrtle was born March 8, 1921, to Columbus Derry Smith and Dora Snider Smith. She was employed with Gem Dandy, Inc., and was a beautician for 60 years in Evelyn’s Beauty Shop. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayodan. Her pleasure was found in varied needle work, i.e. knitting, crocheting, etc. She was a very caring and generous lady. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Aldean Pyrtle; son, Keith Pyrtle; brothers, Otis, Harvey, and Ernest Smith. Survivors include her son, Dwan D. Pyrtle (Rosemary); grandson, George O. Pyrtle; sister, Esteen S. Cardwell; nephew, Dwight Cardwell (Teresa); nieces, Janice Smith and Debra “Debby” Cardwell. Posted by Colonial Funeral Home .
