Evelyn was born on August 23, 1933, in Jefferson, South Dakota, the daughter of Leo M. and Evelyn (Rosenbaum) Coates. She was raised in the Riverside area of Sioux City, and lived her most of her life, except for 14 years in Sergeant Bluff and Luton, Iowa. She was a union meat wrapper for National Food Stores, O.P. Skags, and Piggly Wiggly Stores. She also did baby-sitting and house cleaning, besides being a homemaker for her family. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Riverside chapter for 30 years and T.O.P.S. She was the manager of the community room at the Riverside Garden Apartments. Survivors include three sons, Loren (Jeannie) of Reelsville, Indiana, Robert (Mary) of Sioux City, and Boyd Francis of Williambsurg, Iowa; a brother Orville (Barb) Coates of Culver City, California; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Treasa Francis. Pallbearers: Loren, Robert, Boyd, and Derek Francis, Orville Coates, and Jace Henningfeld.
