Mellenberndt a beloved mother, grandmother and friend formerly of Bryant, South Dakota passed away quietly on June 13, 2011 in Tucson, AZ at the age of 92. A deeply religious, beautiful and gentle woman, she generously gave love and kindness to all she met. Evelyn enjoyed most spending time with family, close friends and neighbors by sharing a meal, playing cards or sipping a cup of fresh coffee in her backyard garden. Mellenberndt a beloved mother, grandmother and friend formerly of Bryant, South Dakota passed away quietly on June 13, 2011 in Tucson, AZ at the age of 92. A deeply religious, beautiful and gentle woman, she generously gave love and kindness to all she met. Evelyn enjoyed most spending time with family, close friends and neighbors by sharing a meal, playing cards or sipping a cup of fresh coffee in her backyard garden. She was a master of crossword puzzles and an avid hand quilter and sewer. All who knew her have many memories of her gentleness and loving heart. Evelyn was preceded in death by her oldest son, Darrell and her husband, Raymond, to whom she was married for over 60 years. Evelyn met her husband after his service in the Navy in Sioux Falls, SD. They were married on November 24, 1949. In 1953, they moved to Rock Rapids, IA where they spent 24 years rearing a family and running the Rapids Movie Theater. She moved to Tucson, AZ in 1979 for the sunshine. She is survived by four children, 11 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and numerous brothers, sisters and family. Evelyn's fondest wish was to be laid to rest with her husband in The Garfield Church in Bryant, SD, the Lutheran church of her youth and birth place.
