Description	:	Evelyn Pearl (Jennings) Kruse, age 82, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, under the direction of the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverends Richard Salcido, and Nathan Sherrill will officiate, with burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa. Born August 8, 1928, in Holstein, Iowa, Evelyn was the daughter of William and Mable (Reineke) Jennings. She received her education at Mapleton Community School, graduating in 1946. On September 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leonard William Kruse at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Mapleton. The couple was blessed with three children, William, Daryl, and Anna Mae. Evelyn and Leonard farmed for over 40 years in Soldier, Charter Oak, and Ida Grove, Iowa. They rented land until 1975, then purchased a 240-acre farm south of Ida Grove. The couple retired in 1988, and moved into Ida Grove in 1990. Evelyn enjoyed making quilts, collecting antiques, and singing in the church choir in Ida Grove. She also enjoyed sewing clothing for her family, friends, and neighbors. Evelyn and Leonard were members of the Sleepy Eye Pottery Club and attended many shows and conventions. They also spent many happy hours square dancing and polka dancing. Survivors include three children, William (Kathleen) Kruse of Underwood, Iowa, Daryl Kruse of Red Oak, Iowa, and AnnaMae(Pastor Paul) Warnier of Browns Valley, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Brian Kruse, Julie (Brian) Gould, Aaron Theno Warnier, Andrea (Ron) Rideout, Christina Warnier, and Lindsey Kruse; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper Rideout, Karleen Kruse, and Alexis Comstock. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marie Ronk of Dunlap, Iowa, and Katherine Kruse of Soldier, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Vernon Volkmann of Ida Grove; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 2007; her parents, sister, Dorothy Volkmann; and brother, Eldon Jennings.
