Evelyn was born November 12, 1928, at Butte, North Dakota, to John and Eva (Lalka) Plesuk. She was raised and educated in the Butte area and graduated from Butte High School. On January 5, 1949, she married Russell Nylen and together they had four daughters. They moved to Wing, North Dakota, where she worked as a telephone operator from their home. They then moved to Parshall, followed by New Rockford where she worked as director of the lunch program at New Rockford School District. The family moved to Bismarck, where Evelyn worked at Sioux Sporting Goods and in the lunch program at Simile Junior High School. They retired to Butte, where Evelyn worked at the Butte Post Office. She was a member of homemakers in Butte and Wing, and played piano at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was an active member at Rosenfelt Church in Keif. She loved caring for her lawn and garden, push mowing her own lawn into her 80s; quilting, crafting many beautiful quilts for grandchildren; sewing, making many outfits for her daughters and herself; baking and cooking for her family, the smell of fresh caramel rolls, buns, donuts, cookies and her Borscht soup permeating her kitchen and offering a welcome treat to visitors. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, especially Rook, and games with friends and was active in Butte Senior Citizens. She also had a great love of chocolate, which she passed down through the generations of her family. She was a beloved mom, grandma and friend and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, and eight brothers, Harry, Mike, Sam, Paul, Peter, Ralph, Raymond and Russell and their spouses. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Butte Cemetery or Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Pl
