Evelyn (Sundet) Strande was born October 13, 1906, at Volga, South Dakota, to Julius O. and Inga G. (Rogholt) Sundet. She graduated from Volga High School in 1925. On August 26, 1927, she married Raymond M. Strande at Howard, South Dakota. The Strandes moved to Covina, California, in 1957. In 1979, they retired and moved to Brookings. Strande, age 97, of Brookings, died Sunday, November 30, 2003, at Brookview Manor in Brookings, South Dakota. Evelyn (Sundet) Strande was born October 13, 1906, at Volga, South Dakota, to Julius O. and Inga G. (Rogholt) Sundet. She graduated from Volga High School in 1925. On August 26, 1927, she married Raymond M. Strande at Howard, South Dakota. The Strandes moved to Covina, California, in 1957. In 1979, they retired and moved to Brookings. Raymond died June 14, 1996. Evelyn was a member of First Lutheran Church of Brookings, and had been involved in many church activities. She was a member of extension club and a quilting club. Her special interests included reading, sports, attending activities of her children and grandchildren; and staying informed on local and world affairs. Survivors include five sons: Lyle (Carol) Strande of Volga, Russell (Shirley) Strande, Richard (Darla) Strande, Lloyd Strande, and John Strande, all of Brookings; three daughters: Darlene Dolly Oines of Volga, Carol (Al) Roach of Brookings, and Camella Camey (Larry) Chaddock of Everett, Washington; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lyda Andrews, of Darrington, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lyle Sundet; and two sisters: Irene Lindsay and Dossie Rovig.
