Description	:	daughter of Adam and Ella (Buseman) Winkowitsch Evelyn Ruth Tjabring, age 89, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Adam and Ella (Buseman) Winkowitsch on February 20, 1922, in White, South Dakota. At the age of 12 years old the family moved to Iowa. She received her education from South Dakota and a rural country school near Allison, Iowa. At the age of 12 years old the family moved to Iowa. She received her education from South Dakota and a rural country school near Allison, Iowa. On September 1, 1943, Evelyn Winkowitsch was united in marriage with John Tjabring at Bethel Reformed Church parsonage, rural Aplington. They made their home in the Aplington area and in 1958 they moved to John's grandfather's farm north of Aplington. To this union two sons, Allen Dale and Billy Dean were born. In 1971 they moved to Austinville, Iowa. Evelyn worked at Maple Manor Nursing Home and the Presbyterian Home in Ackley in dietary and housekeeping for 15 years. She retired in 1987 and then was a volunteer for many years following. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Aplington where she was active in the Women's Guild. She loved her family, gospel music, gardening, raising flowers and her little dog Sparky. She had a gift of music and played the organ, guitar and harmonica. She also enjoyed singing and playing along with the Dakota Sisters. Evelyn died Friday, November 4, 2011, at The Presbyterian Village in Ackley, Iowa, from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Tjabring on February 25, 2007; a son, Allen Tjabring on February 15, 2004; one step-grandchild; and one brother, Duane Winkowitsch. Evelyn is survived by one son, Bill (Deborah) Tjabring of Aplington; four grandchildren, Christina (Dan) Matlick of Ames, Chad Tjabring of Aplington, Angela Hanson of Waterloo and Allen Dale Tjabring, Jr. of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two brothers, Francis Winkowitsch of Aplington and Lawrence Winkowitsch of Ackley; five sisters, Viola Smiens of Loveland, CO, Betty (Lanny) Blohm of Dumont, Virginia Klingborg of Parkersburg, Mildred Moore of Aplington and Minnie (Robert Waldo) Miller of Iowa Falls; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Tjabring of Waterloo. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, at First Reformed Church with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery both in Aplington. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel in Aplington, (319)347-6275, and one hour before services at the church.
