Harmon, Warren teacher, which occurred at the Salem City Hospital where she had been battling for life since August 8. During this time she underwent several serious operations and although given the best of care by expert physicians and loving friends, the efforts seemed but in vain, this despite the fact that a marked improvement was noted last week, and she was granted what it was apparently her only relief from suffering today at 11 o'clock. The deceased is the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Harmon, Middle Street. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. ---- From Columbiana Ledger, Columbiana, Ohio Friday October 8, 1931 DIED - LAST RITES HELD SUNDAY - MANY ATTENDED EVELYN HARMON FUNERAL AT PARENTS HOME - ILL NINE WEEKS - WAS BORN IN CLEVELAND - DECEASED WAS GRADUATE HERE - HAD ATTENDED OTHER INSTITUTIONS OF LEARNING; SURVIVED BY PARENTS, BROTHER, GRANDFATHER Evelyn Stockdale Harmon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Harmon, Columbiana, departed this life Thursday, October 1, at the Salem City Hospital after an illness of nine weeks. Miss Harmon was born in Cleveland, February 4, 1904. Besides her parents, she is survived by her brother, Brydon S, Segner of Evansville, Ind.; her aged grandfather, David Thompson, Warren, and the following near relatives: Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Stockdale, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. John Tranter and family, Warren; John Nesbit and family, Cleveland, besides a host of friends mourn her early departure. She was a graduate of Columbiana High School and had attended Kent State and Ohio University; also Dana's Musical Institute, Warren. She was a member of the Tau Beta Tau's Y. W. C. A., also the Daughters of Scotia. In early childhood she was United with the first M.E. Church of which he was a member until her death. Funeral services were held Sunday at her parent's home, were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. R. McMeeken. The pall-bearers were Theodore and Clarence Tranter, Tromaine and Willard Hoffman, Jack Walters and Robert Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Mildred and Helen Lodge, Lois Roller, Beulah Miller, Mrs. Paul Price, Caroline Hoffman and Helen Balser. Interment took place in Columbiana cemetery. Among the out-of-town friends and relatives here for the services were Misses Lulu G. Clark, Margaret Brey, Helen Woods, Marie Elliott, Dorothy Jones, Gene Weider, Elizabeth Chase, Helen Fee, Hazel Brown, Joy Hobart and Bertha Miner and Mrs. C. Glasgow, teachers of McKinley school, Warren. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Fortunate, Mrs. E. Ragaini, Professor Hurd A. Tuttle, Mrs. Shirley Rupert, Professor A. C. Petsie and son of Youngstown; Lillian Redmond, Louise Williams, Lorraine Lovejoy, Margaret ?, ??, ??, ? Dunlap, Margaret Weild, J. C. Antoul, Mr. J. B. Antol and daughter, Margaret of Warren; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Livingston, Irene Smythe, W. F. Hoffman, Mrs. Ed Mason of Alliance. Mrs. Sylvia Pfau, Mrs. Olive Klein and son, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Hoffman and daughter, Dorothy, of Struthers; Mrs. William Kegelmire and daughter Grace of Leetonia; Mr. and Mrs. Claire Conkle of New Waterford; Daisy Metz of Cleveland, and Harold Miller, Hudson.
