Description	:	Everett Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schultz of Castalia, was born on October 4, 1915. He graduated from Postville high school in 1934. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Zion Lutheran Church of Castalia. In July, 1935 he enlisted in the United States Navy for a period of four years. Read More	Everett Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schultz of Castalia, was born on October 4, 1915. He graduated from Postville high school in 1934. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Zion Lutheran Church of Castalia. In July, 1935 he enlisted in the United States Navy for a period of four years. He was discharged in July 1939 with the rank of 2nd class Boatsman. He married Orlene Bareis on November 5, 1941. The young couple lived in Postville until the time of his entering the service of his country again in July of 1942. He saw considerable action in the Pacific theater of war and received his honorable discharge on October 4, 1945, with the rank of Chief Boatsman. He had given seven years and three months service to his country. In November of 1945 he and his family moved a home in Castalia. He was employed by the Carnation Milk Factory for six years before his death. In November 1948 he departed submitted to an emergency ulcer operation from which he rallied and was able to return to work. In January 1950 he went to the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines for observation and treatment after which he returned home and began working again. On last May 8, 1950 he again returned to Des Moines for further treatment. June 5 he submitted to a cranetomy operation. He died at 6:00 p.m. June 12, at the age of 34. He was a member of the V. F. W. and the American Legion of Postville. He had served as mayor of Castalia for nearly two terms. He served as president of the Lutheran Brotherhood. Military funeral services for were held from Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia with the Rev. L. R. Meinecke officiating and the V. F. W. Post No. 9125 of Postville.
